An outstanding performance at Oulton Park saw Rendell climb to the top of the Motostar Championship this weekend.
Starting the weekend off on a high, Rendell topped the 125 practise time sheets and qualified in pole position overall. This achievement made even more remarkable as the moto3’s held a 6mph power advantage over the finish line.
Despite being overtaken on the straights, Rendell championed every corner regaining the lead where possible. Completing the penultimate lap Rendell looked set for an overall victory. Unfortunately he couldn’t fend off the sheer power any more and was taken by both Weaving and Irving entering the final lap. Maintaining lead Weaving looked set for a race win followed by Irving and Rendell. Unfortunately Irvin crashed out demoting his top performance to a DNF. Avoiding the crash Rendell crossed the finish line in second place (overall) more importantly first in the 125 category; 17 seconds ahead of second place Taz Taylor.

“I’m really comfortable with the bike, we’ve got a new Ohlin’s shock and we’ve got it set up just perfectly
It couldn’t of gone any better you know. I just want to thank all of the team (Banks Racing) because without them we wouldn’t be here and of course my manager Peter Martin. Paul Wilcox and everyone who’s helped me along the way.
It’s been fantastic today; I’ve really enjoyed it
I’m happy, 1st place in the 125’s and second overall, it couldn’t of gone much better than that"
