Rendell started his motorcycle career in 2006 when he won the 4.2hp Mini Moto Championship. Stepping up a class he went on to win the ACU Motostars 70cc Cup in 2007 and Thundersport GB 125 in 2008.
By 2009 Rendell was too old to enter the desired Redbull Rookies and decided to enter the British Superbike 125 class. Unfortunately previous success was curtailed when he sustained a broken leg at Cadwell Park, prematurely ending his championship dreams. Returning from injury in 2010 he re-entered the series only to be faced with a string of racing incidents and unreliable machinery.
Aspiring to move up in class he made the jump to Superstock 600 ‘s (2011). Pre-season track days confirmed the rider’s ability and the team joined the official test weekend at Cartagena. Unfortunately the test didn’t go to plan. He sustained a debilitating and life threatening injury when he broke his pelvis in three places, requiring Medi-Jet evacuation from Spain and reconstructive surgery in London. Bedridden, the rehabilitation phase lasted two years.
In 2013 Rendell was approached by Banks Racing and made his return to the British Superbike 125 class. Finishing the championship in second place he re-signed his contract in 2014 and now adds a British Championship to his achievements.
‘Finally crowned the 2014 Motul British Motostar Champion!!!
Wow, what a feeling, and what a year it's been! And to think, several years ago, I had packed bike racing in, with injury after injury, and all the dark days recovering, I'd had enough. But thanks to a phone call from Pete Banks one evening asking if I'd like to come back and ride, he brought me back to life, and with a lot of hard graft and effort, and all the support from friends and family, I put my self in the position to come back stronger then ever, and become a champion, just goes to show with a bit of determination, it is all possible, and made all the bad days worth it! I can't thank the team around me enough, for without them, it wouldn't be possible, they go through all the stress and nerves the same as I do, and always keep their composure, and turn out a cracking reliable bike that has crowned us with the title!
10 podiums out of 10 races, 4 race victories and now I can finally say British Champion’
