Saturday practice should have been a breeze for Rendell and the team, however from the off the bike was out of shape. Unfortunately the problems persisted through the day with little progress being made in second practice. Changes were made in the right direction by Sunday morning, however were still holding Rendell back. Between Quali 1 and 2 the team managed to find 1 second, securing 3rd on the grid.
Weather conditions were perfect on Monday. Unfortunately Rendell had a 100mph “off” in morning practice; luckily both rider and bike were okay! To compound this issue Rendell returned complaining of a bottom end miss-fire, which the team were unable to fix in time for the race.
Entering the race the Team was well aware how far off the pace they were. In 2010 Ed managed a 1.47 lap on the Banks bike; 3 seconds quicker than this weekend.
Entering the first corner Rendell got caught up in a large group and dropped to 6th place; two laps later Rendell was up to 4th with a podium insight! Bottom end engine issues continued and the suspension was still out. On the forth lap Rendell had a huge high side coming out of shell hairpin and ended up across the grass; this demoted him to 6th overall and 6th in the championship.
Rendell reports: Onwards and upwards, a big break now, new forks and rear shock for knockhill”
