The British 125cc Champion has renewed his contract with Banks Racing, which will see him return to the British Moto3 Championship on the Ten Kate tuned Honda, which took him to third in the Championship (top Honda) this year.
‘‘Staying with Banks Racing for 2016 was a no-brainer for me, I have an incredible relationship with the team, and I still come away from the weekends with a big grin on my face after riding the Ten Kate Honda Moto3, it's all about having fun out there! There is also still unfinished business for me in the Moto3 Championship, and I'd like to regain that number 1 plate.
Of course I want to progress onto 600's, but without the funding in place, a suitable and competitive ride is out the window. My competitive return to the British Moto3 Championship may be a surprise to my followers, however I wouldn't feel comfortable nor satisfied running out on a bike which I couldn't reach my full potential on or get the results both the team and I desire.
Therefore after months of deliberation, numerous discussions with both Banks Racing and Ten Kate, I feel a suitable progression strategy has been achieved, whilst maintaining my desire to win the British Moto3 Championship.”
Rendell has also partnered with Ten Kate, who are supporting Rendell’s progression to a Supersport bike with testing and the potential for British wildcards in 2016.
“Ten Kate did a fantastic job last year with the moto3 machine, and with our partnership even stronger going into 2016, I am in a great position to fight for the Moto3 Championship, whilst proving my worth on a World level Supersport bike.”
Rendell has also kicked off his pre-season crowd funding effort with The GRAND Raffle, a fantastic collection of 2015 memorabilia up for grabs including champagne bottles, knee sliders, podium caps and the main prize being a highly detailed fine pencil art print of Ed (copy No.12, see below).
